About Bettie Meinel

I would like to introduce myself to you and welcome you to review the information provided below

I have been a resident of the Laurel Hollow, Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington areas of Long Island's North Shore Gold Coast for the past 45 years and I have been active in the community on many levels.

As a licensed Associate Broker for the past 30 years, I have sold homes and helped to market homes from Queens to Setauket.   Today with the assistance of our company website and all the technology available,  I am readily able to provide all information required by buyers and sellers alike with direct communication regarding their market of interest.   Recognizing that technology would play a key role in the real estate market over 15 years ago, acquiring the necessary skills to best serve buyers and sellers became top priority and has continued to be of great interest.

As a volunteer, It has been my previlege to serve as President 2014 of the Long Island Board of Realtors and have served as a Director for the Long Island Board of Realtors for the 10 years , Director for New York State Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors.

Serving in the position of Executive Vice President for Laffey Real Estate helps me to keep my "finger on the pulse" of changes in our industry, abeit consumer related, company/agent rules and regulations related, or the most innovative ideas for continued growth and success of our 500 plus agents and me.

I attended El Camino Community College in Manhattan Beach, California and studied music.  My interests were always outdoors - music and marching, athletic activities.  I wanted to be a music teacher or a physical education teacher.  So you ask "how did you get involved with commodity trading and wall street?"  I was offered a job, took it, and never looked back.  I took the Chicago Finance Course and became licensed as a Commodity Trader.  I handled "guided accounts" for E. F. Hutton over the years both in Los Angeles and New York.

When it comes to Real Estate related courses I can't stop.  I have many designations and attend numerous conventions, training sessions, webinars, etc. throughout the year.

I am fortunate to have represented a number of properties over the years of all price ranges and numerous locations across Long Island..  Please visit  my personal website for more information.  You will also find all the information you need regarding the process you will go through as a buyer or seller.

Most exciting for me is the first time buyer that I have watched grow up over the years and are now ready to purchase and start their family. They are kind enough to refer me to others and I enjoy watching them settle into their new homes.

The North Shore of Long Island is definitely the luxury market and it is a very special market to be working in.  Laffey Fine Homes specializes in the high end market and we are provided the necessary training and tools to handle this business.

Professional Interests

In addition to the real estate boards that I serve on as a director, I am also a honorary member of Women's Council of Realtors.  This is a national organization of professionals doing real estate.  Our local Long Island chapter is very active and provides wonderful programs.  I have been on the executive committe and served as President and continue to enjoy the priviledge of participating in this professional organization.  I have been honored as a life time member.

Professional Background

Many careers over the years:

Merchant's Assistant - Cargill Grain Company, Los Angeles, California

Administrative Assistant, Commodity Trader, Guided Accounts - E. F. Hutton - Los Angeles and New York City

Real Estate Career - Agent, Manager, Career Development Manager - and AGENT!

Community Involvement

support a number of charities such as Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanities, Ronald McDonald House, local food banks, and the North Shore Animal League.  Laffey Fine Homes is a major supporter of a local Easter Seals endeavor in the Bronx and as agents we do our best to participate and fundraise for this charity.  The Long Island Board of Realtors takes on many local charities and we think of ourselves as "More than Realtors".

Personal Interests

Real Estate is my life other than my family BUT I do enjoy gardening and walking my two little Papillion dogs Roxy and Vixen.  Visiting the local nurseries and Home Depot provide the relaxation needed and allows for the creative side to be expressed.  And of course there is nothing like the welcoming of two little dogs when you arrive home!

Personal Background

As a native Californian growing up in Southern California, the ocean and beaches played a major role in my life.  How could they not?  To this day a walk on the beach or a drive along the southern shore of Long Island brings great pleasure.

Relocating to New York 40 years ago introduced me to Long Island's North Shore.  I have raised three children who have blessed me with 4 grandsons so far.  Family days at my home still continue to be the favorite for all of us.

Music has always played an important role in my life and has influenced my young adults as well.  Trumpet and french horn were the instruments of choice but I was also drum major of the high school, community, and the college band.  Sharing my enthusiasm and skills  for marching band became an important part of my early days as I trained and instructed but continues to be an interest.

Any time away from real estate will find me in the garden!  People say I have a "green thumb" but it is probably just the grass and weed stains.  The local Home Depot and nurseries all know me by first name.

My professional background includes being a commodity trader for E. F. Hutton in the "When Hutton Speaks, People Listen" days.  Exciting job and a wonderful time to be in the industry of commodity/securities trading.

Technology in real estate

Technology now plays a critical role in real estate.  Please be aware that I know that and have made sure that I am up to speed on what is required to market and promote a home for sale.  It is also important to assist the buyer in identifying the tools they have available to them to assist them with the decision process.  It is great fun and very, very exciting to watch our industry embrace all that is available to assist the consumer whether buying or selling a home.

Training and Education is important

I have spent most of my real estate career giving back to the industry as a volunteer and a trainer.  It concerns me that more isn't required of agents and that the public isn't aware of the different levels of experience as they begin their partnership with an agent.  I am a trainer and a promoter of the real estate industry.  It is of importance to me that I am always ready and able to provide the most "up to the moment" market information to those that I am privileged to represent.  I am a Realtor, a member of the National Association of Realtors.
